The Portsmouth Halloween Parade 2016 - Marching Into It's 22nd Year

Portsmouth, New Hampshire takes Halloween very seriously.If you don't believe me, head downtown on the evening of October 31 for one of Portsmouth's greatest events....The Portsmouth Halloween Parade This will be the 22nd year of the amazing grassroots celebration! What makes it so amazing is that it is not sponsored by the city....it's completely community funded.  This year the Grand Marshall of the parade will be The Queen of Halloween,  Diana Kirkpatrick.The theme of the parade will be WITCHES. Diana is a perfect choice for Grand Marshall because of her love of Halloween. She has been decorating her property on Middle Road for the last twenty years as a gift to the city. I've written about Diana's Middle Road Haunted House many times over the years.It's open every night in October. It's open to all, and it's FREE.There is a donation box, but no obligation to pay. This year Diana is giving all donations from her haunted house to the Parade. Anyone wishing to march in the parade is asked to gather at Peirce Island by Prescott Park at 6pm.  There is no sign-up.I won't be marching, but I wouldn't miss being there to watch.
